Cloudy, creamy, rustic.
This rustic orange wine is made from blend of co-fermented Viognier, Gewurztraminer and Gruner Veltliner it went through a natural secondary fermentation 11-months in while aging in new Russian oak. In my opinion, orange wines of this type are best served by aromatic varieties and makes for a more unique product.
Buchanan describes his small cuvee wines as: sustainable, honest and progressive, producing wines with personality and a purity of flavour.
Buchanan uses indigenous yeast, minimal amounts of sulfites, no enzymes and no temperature control; they are unfined with little to no filtration.
This skin-contact (for 2-3 weeks) orange wine offers aromas of dried powdery flowers, cedar chips and orange slices, dried apricot, fleur de sel and smoked spices. Expect flavours of bitter orange and tealeaf, wild grass and a suggestion of spice. Cloudy with a creamy weight, it maintains freshness throughout.
